The last couple of days have dealt with some heavier topics, so let’s balance that out with one of the most beautifully written and encouraging chapters in the Bible. Psalm 139 is a magnum opus of the beauty of God and His intentional love toward you.
I would encourage you to slowly read all 24 verses of this psalm out loud. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God, so there is something deeply spiritual and faith-building about reading aloud and letting the truth of this psalm wash over you. In Ephesians 5, Paul is giving instruction to husbands on how to love their wives “as Christ loves the church.” Then he drops a theological bomb by explaining how Christ loves the church: “[Jesus] gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word.”
Jesus cleanses His church by the “washing” power of His Word. So maybe today you need to hear the words of this psalm and allow them to define you more than status, fame, the opinions of others, or how much money you may or may not have.
John Bevere once shared that one cubic foot of sand contains millions, if not billions, of grains of sand, and that God’s thoughts toward you specifically outnumber every grain of sand on every beach, desert, and golf course sand trap in the entire world. What if you knew even a few of those thoughts and chose to live by them? What would your life look like if you truly believed that no matter where you go or what you do, the presence of the God of the universe is with you? The same Spirit who raised Christ from the dead and hovered over the waters at creation resides in your heart at all times.
What if you knew that God Himself wrote a book about your life, formed you in your mother’s womb, gave you a specific personality, smile, eye color, and quirks unlike any of the other billions of people on the earth; and that He loves you?
I agree with verse 6: “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it.”
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the indescribable love You reveal in Psalm 139. Let the truth of Your Word define my life and shape my future. Help me to hear and know Your thoughts toward me. I surrender myself to You today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Whatever you’re facing—big or small—you don’t have to carry it alone. We believe in the power of prayer and in a God who hears us when we call.
Our team would be honored to stand with you in faith, pray over your situation, and believe with you for healing, breakthrough, peace, or direction.
