Jenny Moore for editing my writing and for being the most encouraging wife a man could ask for.
And you! For coming along on the journey of Seek First. I hope you have richly encountered the Lord over these last 21 days. Even if you faltered in fasting, I know that He has been deeply honored by your “yes” to Him. I believe that every moment you humbled yourself during these 21 days is a seed sown in the Spirit that you will reap as a blessed harvest in return.
Psalm 65 is a celebratory song of thanksgiving to God for His miraculous provision of salvation and blessing. In the first half of the Psalm, it speaks to our spiritual reality: our prayers are heard, there is forgiveness for our iniquity, and we are drawn near to the manifest presence and glory of God, who is full of power and majesty.
The second half speaks to tangible provision. We no longer live in an agrarian society, but those who do understand the absolute dependence farmers have on weather and seasons in order to properly cultivate their crops. In ancient times, before man-made irrigation technology, people relied on a source completely outside of their control to make it through each year. This prayer of thanksgiving, for God to water the earth and care for it, is also a powerful declaration of faith and trust in Him.
Thankfully, we enjoy so many modern conveniences that most of us simply pray for whatever weather we prefer. Right now, my kids are ardently interceding for a snow day. But what if, in 2026, we cultivated, like a farmer tending his crops, a deep dependence on the Lord and the revelation John gives us in 1 John: that “every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father of lights”?
I don’t know what this year will hold for us. There will likely be mountains and valleys, blessings and setbacks. But I know the Lord is faithful. I am believing and declaring that Psalm 65 will prophetically mark this year for you, in Jesus’ name.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, this year of my life belongs to You. Thank You that the river of God “is full of water” and that You richly provide for my needs both spiritually and tangibly. May I live near the river of Your provision this year and follow You wherever You lead. Following You Jesus is an adventure like no other.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
Whatever you’re facing—big or small—you don’t have to carry it alone. We believe in the power of prayer and in a God who hears us when we call.
Our team would be honored to stand with you in faith, pray over your situation, and believe with you for healing, breakthrough, peace, or direction.
