We’re thrilled to celebrate your desire to read the Bible! The Bible is God’s Word, written by about 40 authors under the Holy Spirit’s guidance over 1,500 years. It consists of 66 books: 39 in the Old Testament and 27 in the New Testament.
Here’s an easy way to start engaging with God’s Word regularly:
Aim for five days a week.
Read one chapter a day.
Jot down truths, promises, and principles that stand out to you (journal or digital notes).
Pray over what you’ve written down.
Begin with the New Testament to build a solid foundation:
1. John
2. Mark
3. Matthew
4. Luke
5. Acts
6. Romans through Revelation
• If a chapter feels long, read a shorter section.
• Try not to miss more than two consecutive days.
• Be kind to yourself—three days a week is a great start!
• If you miss a day, just pick up where you left off.
• Read with the goal of getting to know God better:
• What is God saying?
• What is God doing?
• How will you respond to what God shows you?
• Choose a readable, reliable translation (like ESV or NLT).
After completing the New Testament, consider reading through the Old Testament. Remember, the Bible is a grand story about God’s plan to reconcile you and all of humanity to Himself.
If you have questions or want guidance as you read, we’d love to help.
